Expert Italian Hotelier takes marketing role with Wellington luxury lodge
New Zealand-owned luxury lodge company Greenmantle Estate Lodge has appointed Alessandro Pinna to the position of Luxury Lodge Marketing Manger.
Pinna will develop plans for the company in marketing and promotion, sales and revenue growth and takes responsibility for guiding implementation of those company plans.
Greenmantle Estate Ltd Chairman Lorenzo Green says the new appointment is a solid tactical move as the company looks to accelerate growth for its accommodation services, particularly through Internet booking channels used by established hotels in Europe.
He said the board was particularly attracted by the international hotel management experience brought through Pinna’s previous Hilton Rome director and 5 Star start up roles. In those he had focused on strategic priorities and company growth with, a proven track record in the reduction of costs and increase inrevenue, as well as pragmatic policy development.

Alessandro Pinna has just immigrated to New Zealand from Cagliari, Italy with his wife and two young children to give them a new life in this country that so attracts him. He left a good position as General Manager Sardegna Hotel where he managed a dramatic up-turn in room occupancy and revenue increase. Other positions included two years as Director of Operations at Hilton Rome Airport where he managed 180 staff in eight operational departments with an emphasis that included business change and renewal.
He is keen to share his detailed tourism hotel management experience for the benefit of New Zealand luxury sector including his three years with ATA Hotels in Turin/Siena Italy. As Assistant General Manager he held a critical operational leadership role in the pre-opening and opening of two prestigious 5 star hotels: the historic ‘Principi di Piemonte’ in Turin and the 3500 square metre ‘Petriolo Spa & Resort’ with Medical Spa in Tuscany.
Pinna explains that in his Greenmantle Marketing Manager he will develop and implement the marketing plan and public relations activities for the lodge to increase brand awareness, communicate promotions to all relevant target markets and address lodge business needs. Since the lodge is going through an important establishment phase in this Tourism New Zealand luxury target area of expansion.
Further, from a sales perspective he embraces responsibility for building and executing on a sales and marketing plan and associated sales activities with the team to achieve targets and company goals. Then on the revenue side, since he manages the lodge sales & marketing plans he will be recommending opportunities to maximize yield, monitoring progress against revenue goals and ensuring that the lodge is competitively positioned within the local marketplace.
Pinna says he is confident that Greenmantle Estate Lodge has all the elements for success in attracting high-end tourists from Europe – particularly Italy. Additionally, he notes it is clearly positioned to satisfy those New Zealanders wanting a luxury international style experience without having to travel far.
